When a machine is still the better choice
- You run very large exams on a fixed schedule. Feeding a stack of sheets through a hopper beats photographing them one at a time once you are past a few hundred per sitting.
- You already own one and it works. There is no reason to replace equipment that does the job. Plenty of institutes use both — the machine at head office, a phone at the branches.
- Your process depends on the vendor's sheets. If your printing and stock are already built around them, switching is a bigger change than it looks.
